All Services Currently Offered for Free

I will be offering all my services free of charge, with the exception of my one-on-one time with a client, where the first hour or two will be free, more will be alotted depending on the circumstances of the client. I will only be charging for fees caused by obtaining a domain name, high level hosting, or requested outsourcing by the client.

Most websites can be constructed and fuctional within two days, a week for a more technical one, and all are usually content filled and seeing hits within three. Please feel free to contact me via the contact form. Please leave as much information as you can about the website.

I am not currently offering SEO at this time due to the absorbitant amount of time it takes from me, but I can refer you.

I have over five years of website building experience, in most cases having to work with little or no working capital to start the websites, advertise, and grow communities. I would like to pass as much of this knowlege along as possible.

Database Update

Usually I install all the web software right on to the hosting server and then add the content, for this specific site I took a different approach. I installed Xampp, a Apache web server installation, and viewed my site on my own computers localhost server then uploaded the files and then the database. Afterward just overwriting the database with each update.

This was a neat experience and I now prefer it but this will be my last database update and I am going to just see where the site goes. If anything I suspect that it will serve as a resume, portfolio and initial contact form for clients and potential customers.

All in all developing the overall look and plugin installations on my computer without uploading and then seeing it withing two seconds has been wonderful, I've customized and edited more things with in this site in such a small period of time that I'll be using it as my standard website building method using it as my alpha phase as programming lingo goes.

Thank you for baring through the very strange updates.

Website Consulating

I can advise you on things that are needed for the construction of a website, implementation and upkeep. Content Management Systems are my specialty, and if you are working without one I will recommended the installation of one suitable to your needs.

I can help you with thematic needs, and community administration, I can stand in on a monthly retainer fee for moderation of web communities. If you have a question on how to create or run your website, I can answer it.

As a website consultant, my time is limited and my demand high, so everything with me is by appointment. My preferred method of contact is email. I find it clean simple and most of all recordable. I have a Gmail account so there is no need for me to delete anything including my junk mail. Things that are said are said simply and there is no need to mix emotions especially when dealing with such mechanical things. It allows things to be conducted asynchronously and better suit peoples business needs.

My consulting rate per hour is $64 USD. I do not negotiate on this rate nor do I feel the need to. It's a numerical constant in all my business equations. For long projects I proscribe a cheaper weekly rate of $1100 USD per week, approximately half cost because of lower risk statistics. My services are not free, these are my rates.

If you seek my advise you may use it how every you wish or you could not, I'm just here to help.

What if I do not pay?

I keep it, and do as I please with the work. Bits are designed to be copied and labor is not free so I must recoup my losses in time and expense. If a client fails to pay, unlikely but has happened, they forfeit their site and I the original artist do with it as I please.

Remember I am a contractor and artist as such I am self-employed. I am more of a business partner, not your employee. I'm sorry but it is very bad business to work for free. No one wants to be a starving artist.

I have no reason to report people to collection agencies, it is too much a hassle and then there are court cost at the end of things. Just please know that if you can not afford a website then do not buy one. I state my prices before hand and do not change them afterwards.

Thank you for understanding.

Firefox's Extended Potential

Mozilla Firefox is one for the many if not the key application in Mozilla's central core. The program is an offshoot of the Gecko family of browsers so gives very nice web standards compliance often displaying things better and sooner than IE. Firefox (FF) is the browser of the power internet user, someone that needs many things at there fingertips at once, specifically news via rss feeds, and developmental tools.

If you are a web designer then likely you have Mozilla Firefox installed for testing pages but it should really be your second major piece of web design software. Firefox has extension that add extra abilities to it, some making it safer in the process. Here are some popular extensions you should try with development.

FireFTP, the blue seahorse, is a powerful one, puts a FTP access system into your browser, it is very easy to configure and use similar to Filezilla in operation though very powered down. This program allows file movement, permission changes, folder manipulation, and easy file management that is rather hard to come by, it also puts the build in FTP system of Windows Explore to shame.

FireBug, a a page debugger that is ready to load and play with anything. Firebug is designed to look over CSS, Layout and DOM issues. The CSS menu shows how each level of cascading attributes affect the page. The layout debugger is excellent showing you what space is really padding, margin or the border, giving exact pixel numbers that you can easily work with for doing static work or comparing things. Scrolling over the HTML shows you where on the page an element is, think Dreamweaver/Expressions but very lighter. It allows you to edit things and see what those changes will do on the fly and with much time preservation maximizing efficiency.

Greasemonkey, is where things get personal, you can use it to edit pages for yourself, and save and or share those changes. For example editing your MySpace backend to your liking using CSS. Adding features to other sites to do things you thing they just have to have, or delete off parts that just blow it for you. There are thousands of scripts to use to get started with, and you can always learn to make on yourself.

IETabs lets you render pages using the Trident rendering engine from your current version of Internet Explorer so that you never have to leave your Firefox experience. It also allows you to surf the IE only pages and compare the way that they look side by side

Well this ends my review of Mozilla Firefox.

Horizontal e107 Menus

Horizontal e107 menus are elusive because most themes have them laid vertical, which is simple to do but with some simple CSS you can make them horizontal.

Start with some edits to the theme.php file, or at least made sure that a specific id or class to the area you want to place them in is assigned to it, and the menus themselves are each contained within a div with one specific class.

You will want to check the tablestyles section of your theme.php. Check to make sure that the whole menu not just the .$text is surrounded in a div tag with a specific class, along with the .$caption, next code and style it as you please. For example:

  1. <div class='h_menus'>
  2. <div class='menu'>
  3. <h3 class='menu_caption'>.$caption</h3>
  4. <div class='menu_text'>.$text</div>
  5. </div>
  6. </div>
This is very basic yet overdone, but gives access to each element to be style without confusion in the future.

Next comes the CSS where all the visual work is done. It should look something like the following in part:

  1. .h_menu
  2. .h_menu menu

The area where the menu will be horizontal is identified by the containing class h_menu. Overflow is set to show and display to block to force it to behave properly within the site layout displaying the menus. After this basic concept style to your liking.

And that is how you make horizontal e107 menus! Feel free to leave any comments, I'm sure I missed something.

Custom MySpace Layout Template

Teens and adults alike all use MySpace as a communication hub, and they like to have it uniquely express them. MySpace has allowed for each user to add customized HTML and CSS to each profile, along with music, and some more advanced elements but only to a specific degree, there are limitations on Javascript for example.

To apeal to a larger audience I will be crafting MySpace Templates, and making Custom ones from a PSD, or cluster of images. MySpace is a standardize medium of communication and development of each element is unnecessary, more work is done working with the images than anything else so I can offer this service at a low and competitive price. There is always the option of making one yourself, but likely you will end up with a ugly banner stuck somewhere on your site along with a very stiff look. I know how to completely rearrange your page!

Get a page that your friends will be completely envious of. Hide things you don't want people seeing, selectively, like specific comments. Custom images, pointers, banners, and table layouts. Every element will scream with your own personal fair and taste. Get a prepy, gothic, emo, ghetto. or nerdy look, if you choose, just tell me the colors, give me some pictures, and tell me what you want it to look like. I can even use someone's look for you and customize it to fit you. Look the best, contact me.

Parents and cautionous do not worry my service is completely safe, you do the pasting yourself, I rewrite everything for you and you just have to paste things. I include a simple manual of any new features I've added to your page, and tips on maintaining and updating it. I do not need your login information just an email to send you the finished product.

If you would like to have a custom profile made please contact me also a friend add of my profile would not be bad.

Payment Policy

To have a successful business you have to have a certain degree of income, one that is significantly higher than your cost of operations. My current cost of operations are rather high for my taste. Living expenses, travel, software, and hardware. So to make sure that I am fare to my customers and myself, I'm changing my payment policies.

Web Design is not something like a piece of furniture more like the services of a Interior decorator. The overall appearance of a site hangs on the quirks in taste of the designer, its functionality even. If the designer is feeling not at there best then the website will suffer for it. Also the amount of web languages that need to be learned, a simple site needs two if not three, up to five for a more advanced installation and customized setup and that is labor value.

My pricing will be very simple, the cost of my operations divided by my expected number of projects in a month, then that times the value and labor of the work. The number of cups of coffee (or aspirin doses) i would consume in the time it would take me to do that task, an average for the cups of course, is a good estimate. For example, one cup in the mourning for a PSD template, during a day three for a Wordpress theme, and about seven for a full site build. Calculating via hours is unfair to the customer and myself because I tend to work through the night often. Subtract any discounts. That total plus fee incurred by money transactions, approximately 3% of the total, then multiplied by 1.07 to add in taxes. Each item is marked with a price that I expect to be payed as a base in my shop. Each job is studied before hand to prevent any complications or point out anything that may increase or decrease the cost of that job, these are rare, but they happen. A price is quoted and agreed upon, after which payment is requested. You are welcome to tip me, but it is not expected.

My preferred method of payment is via Paypal. I can send invoices to email addresses so that they can be printed and keep for record, along with a link to pay the specified amount via credit, debit, or bank check if your banking is connected to Paypal. The method is secure and private.

Anything under five hundred dollars will need to be payed upfront, anything over a payment policy of 50/50 will be suggested although you can still pay upfront.

I'm a simple person but I have needs to me my name to protect, and a moral code to uphold. Thank you for your business.
